General Character Design

General Character Design * *
Here are just some general ideas I had involving character designs. Sometimes I would find inspiration in the weirdest of places. Enjoy a slight peek into how my mind works on a daily basis. Also, I added some of my design process from me working on my original story, Blynde World.
This was my re-design of Frieza from DBZ as a human. Initially, I was going to do a more regal look but decided to lean more towards a “white trash” look since he’s pretty openly racist to Saiyans.
This design was for some contest a while back. I believe someone made a Sojourner Truth superhero and wanted different artist’s takes. This was mine. I decided on the face markings as a way to make her stand out and not just be a black woman in a cape.
There was this indie game called Baldi’s Basics that was gaining popularity at the time I made this. The art style of the game was definitely… something. So attempting to redesign all these characters into a more cohesive style proved to be a fun challenge. I especially loved designing the jump rope girl.
I’m a huge fan of the Legend of Zelda series and had the idea of turning the reoccurring boss, Gohma, into a human. I decided to lean into the “Queen” aspect of her title from Ocarina of Time as well as the spider motif from Twilight Princess. This was one of my favorite pieces.
These two were actually some designs I did of some IRL friends who also happened to be recording artists. Their stage names were Mad S. & Destiny Claymore, so I had a bit of fun leaning into Destiny’s name and went a little Daft Punk with Mad S.
Around the release of the Into the Spider-Verse movie, there was a trend of having artists make their own “Spider-Sona” and this was mine. I’ve always been a fan of knives and knew that if I was a superhero of some kind, I’d probably use knives.
